[吃] Toronto's pho~ 我在多倫多的越南河粉!

火車頭

This restaurant is on second floor, there're plenty of space~ it's the family restaurant type, decorations are very simple and cozy.

The pho is considerably inexpensive, $6.50 for small bowl (2016). I ordered #101, which contain meat, tripe, and many typical things contained in pho. The amount inside the dish and the price makes it well worth of your money.

The pho is good, yet only just average. The reason that i would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant is its juice. The juice are really really inexpensive, unlike other Toronto restaurants. It's MANGO JUICE is as good as the juice i had in Bali, which is a state that's hard to compete with :P
The price of a regular cup is $3.50 large $4.50
I often pack one large mango juice home for me to slowly but steadily indulge in~

The cup next to it is Durian juice. The price is the same and it's very good as well~ makes me really want to try other flavour. Before I left, I bought another large cup home to enjoy privately~ hehe, because it's really really good!!!

The restaurant is pretty small but very cozy. It has a tv inside that makes it very like home, since a lot of Taiwanese restaurants have tvs as well. Plus, it discourages the use of phones, which is always a should and also must for "modernized" people nowadays. The show is always the old fashioned prank shows, so it brings out good laughs in the restaurant and cheer the atmosphere up.

THIS IS DEFINITELY ONE OF MY FAVOURITE PHO!!!

I ordered ox tail and beef ball, both my favourite combos, and its amazing! Even though they don't serve it with raw bean sprouts and basil leaves, the soup that it has is on top of every other pho i've tried. The ox tail is just so well cooked that it's not too soft that the tendon of it lost its texture, but it's not too hard that hurts your jaw when you bite it. The best of it has to be their SOUP!!! It's just amazing, i have no other words to describe it.

YOU HAVE TO TRY IT! It's right on Yonge st and close to eaton center, so that's a benefit. Their juice section looks really good as well! even though i haven't tried it yet, but i'll update it as soon as i did. Same for their hot and sour soup and those Vietnamese baguette~

This is what it looks like when you ordered to go.

Pho Orchid

This is also a decent pho restaurant. It's located underground on the intersection of chestnut and dundas, so those chestnut students must know this place. The atmosphere is cozy, clean, and very comfortable, and their dish is of course also nice. This one doesn't have that wow factor to it, but it's still somewhere i would go if i wanted any pho. The best part? the waitresses are actually vietnamese, so you know you are in the right hands :P

I ordered rare beef and beef ball this day, and as you can see the rare beef is not too rare nor too well done. It's not too rare that it'll ruin the soup (as you can see in the next restaurant), but not too well done that it's soft and tender. They serve it with raw bean sprouts as well, always a plus, and their noodles are the authentic type so this is definitely a good pho place to visit! And if you do, since you're in the neighborhood crab the chance to buy a uncle tetsu cheese cake~

Phở Hưng

Their pho is the really authentic one where their meat is actually raw. When i stir the meat along with the soup, the whole soup went from clear broth colour to a nasty and muddy colour. It still tasted good but just wasn't the same, i'm not sure whether i like it or hate it, but for those real pho lovers, this may be the one for you! Their noodle is the authentic one as well. Generally this is just quite an authentic place, yet it's kind of expensive and all their waiters are Chinese, haha. This is one of those restaurants that won't go wrong, but it didn't also didn't bring out any sparkles in my eyes.
